The IPT Academy boys had a solid start in the opening 8 km TT stage (a prologue really) of the Giro Next Generation race.
Our best performer was the young Spaniard @paums_24 who crossed the line 35 seconds behind the stage winner, Jakob Söderqvist from Team Lidl Trek Future Racing. Pau, our General Classification hope, was quite satisfied with his performance, not losing ground to his GC rivals.
For Israeli TT champion @imry_fain, it was the lack of experience that haunted him a bit. He started full gas and battled the steep hill at the midpoint quite impressively but paid for it, losing stamina at the finish. He ended up 56 seconds behind but sounded relieved that the start is behind him: “I was so excited and emotional,” he admitted.
“From my point of view, it was a good start,” said Sports Director Ruben Plaza. “The real race starts tomorrow.”
