Carlos Verona furious after being hit by the AG2R Citroen Team car: "He ran over me!"

Carlos Verona fought his way into the breakaway of the day on stage 19 of the Giro d'Italia. The Madrid cyclist from the Movistar Team had to work for kilometres with José Joaquín Rojas to catch up with those in front. However, in the end, he could not fight for the stage victory because of a crash caused by the AG2R Citroën Team car.

As the cyclist denounced after the test and Alberto Contador commented in Eurosport, the AG2R Citroën car that was near the escapees touched the Movistar rider while he was climbing. "The AG2R's car ran over him and hit him on the elbow, hip and back." This is how the protagonist himself explained it after the race:

"I was quietly rolling the last of the break up Valparola and the AG2R car HIT me!! Luckily it was going up and not going down. Hit on the elbow, hip and back and above all a lot of frustration. Let's recover tomorrow and conquer Rome with Fernando Gaviria!"
