The Queen stage of the Giro d'Italia always brings drama and this one was no different. A thrilling finale to the nineteenth stage of the race has ensured it is still all to play for ahead of the decisive stage 20 time-trial.
Santiago Buitrago was the stage winner, taking his second career Giro d'Italia stage win and denying the brilliantly exciting, Derek Gee. Down the road the general classification battle was taking off. With all of Joao Almeida, Primoz Roglic and Geraint Thomas attacking at one point or another it was Roglic who gained a 3 second advantage on Thomas with Almeida some 20 seconds further down. With the Jumbo-Visma leader just 26 seconds off the Maglia Rosa going into the final stage it is sure to another exciting day tomorrow.
