"Roubaix is a very big goal" - Lucinda Brand has clear goal following Cyclocross World Championships medal

Lucinda Brand demonstrated her talent and athleticism with a third-place finish at the UCI Cyclocross World Championships and sets her sights on the road season ahead. Her next target will be Paris-Roubaix Femmes.

“I will finish the X20 Trophy and take a little rest and train hard towards Roubaix,” Brand told Cyclingnews. She continues, “Roubaix is a very big goal, and hopefully, it will work out. Then my main focus will be working towards the Tour De France and I will be there for our leaders to be good support.”

Brand's cyclocross season was plagued by unexpected setbacks, including a right-hand fracture sustained during a practice session for the Tabor World Cup in October. “I think I did quite a good job of it if you look back a few weeks ago, I’m very happy with third place. It was the highest possible at the moment. Looking back to how the whole season was, it was a very nice way to end the season.”

With over a decade of experience, Brand has seen the growth of women's cycling first-hand and hopes to continue to be a part of its journey, inspiring more young people to get involved in the sport. “The development of cycling is going so quick, especially in women’s cycling. They are going quicker with more knowledge about everything aside from just riding your bike, about nutrition, recovering and everything. That is a great thing for them to know all the details besides training and we see it in every discipline that the young riders are on a higher much earlier,” concluded Brand.
