Ellen van Dijk: "I really wanted to win and I'm happy that it worked out"

Ellen van Dijk won the Dutch time trial for the fifth time on Wednesday afternoon. She won in 2007, 2012, 2013, 2018, and now 2022.

"It might sound easy to win the NK as world champion, but it's not and I felt the pressure to win here, I really wanted to win and I'm happy that it worked out. It was a smooth time trial," van Dijk said at the end of her effort. With her recent successes out on the road and track, this constitutes another hit, has she beat Shirin van Anrooij and Riejanne Markus to the win.

"Even though I've accomplished a lot in the time trial, you always want to get the best out of it and that's stressful. It was also cool to see Shirin do so well. She came in second behind me , so I think I can say that the future is coming. All in all, it was a great day, which we made even better with the team," van Dijk said.
