Ahora he hecho muchos buenos entrenamientos en Lanzarote y he descansado mucho.

¿Has podido ver al circuito?

¿Has podido visitar nuestro país (España)?

¿Qué sitios conoces o has visitado?
Sólo Calpe and Guardamar por Training Camps.

Muchas gracias

English

A few days for the Cyclocross World Championship of Bieles, what is your current state of fitness? How are your legs?
That is a good question! After the Nationals and Otegem I travelled to Lanzarote on my own. I wanted to do a good trainingsperiod after several races, also with upcoming eye for the roadseason. Now I have done a lot of good trainings in Lanzarote and took a lot of rest. I needed the rest, because the last month was to busy for me.

Did you see the circuit? Do you like? Does it adjust your characteristics?
I only saw on Youtube a recon of the circuit. But it is difficult to say if I like it or not. On movie it always looks different then in real. On thursday I go to Luxemburg and then I will do a recon of the course and then I know if I like it or not :p

Many were surprised by your victory in the past World Cyclocross. Will winning in Bieles will prove your worth and close many mouths?
I think when you are a real follower of cyclocross than you had to see what I could do. Since half December till Hoogerheide I was good in shape and raced good. Still it was a surprise, for me as well, that I became World Champion. I raced a perfect race and was just better than the others, otherwise I couldn't close my big gap to the front group and than go over them.

I think that I have let seen already that I am a champion. In Octobre I won Ronse, Contern, Valkenburg, European Championships and was second in Ardooie and Koppenberg cross. So I think I have shown my jersey really well. Till now I am not out of the top 5 every race, what also my goal was.

You haven't raced much this season of ciclocross. Only two races of World Cup and other races ... why this calendar so "light"?
I raced already more than last season, but it is hard when you also have a roadseason to do. I raced last roadseason 50 races and then starting in cyclocross after a small break. Then it is normal that you cannot race everywhere. Also important, after the cyclocross season (Lille for me on 4th february), I start half of march in Trofeo Binda WWT on the road. If you want to do two disciplines on 100%, than you bringing yourself in difficult situations and will you be 'dead' after 1 whole year. So I have to make choices.

However you have the "Triple Crown", with the World Champion, Europe and Holland jerseys, do you have them hanging somewhere in your house?
They are laying down in a closet ..... 😉 The medals haning on the wall 😉

It seems that Marianne Vos is finishing very well the season but also have made good results Sophie de Boer or Sanne Cant. How do you see your rivals for the fight for the World Championship? Will Marianne Vos be the rival to beat?
I think not only Marianne Vos is a rival for me. Sanne Cant shows that she is the whole season constantly, Sophie de Boer is also always in a good shape. But think also on Christine Majerus. She is from Luxemburg and really good in shape right now!

Also Lucinda Brand, Caroline Mani, Nash, and Ellen van Loy are riding really well. So it will be hopefully a exciting race, to see and to do.

This year we were surprised with the news of your departure from the Rabobank-Liv Woman Cycling Team. What were the reasons? It seems like being Dutch in the home team is the most, but you signed up for Lares-Waowdeals Women Cycling team .... why?
I raced 5 years with Rabobank Liv, and now it was really time for me to make a new step in my carrier. I had already 3 years contact with the sportsdirector Marc Bracke. He have confidence in me and see a real good sporters, and person in me. He wants to help me to reach the top the upcoming year(s). He believes in me and that is something what I sometimes missed the last 2 years.

Don't  get me wrong, I had a great time with Rabobank Liv, but now I have to choice for myself. I am looking forward to work together with new riders, staff in an new athmospheer and that will be at Lares-Waowdeals Women Cycling Team. I get a new role in the team: leader... So something really different and new for me and that is also a challenge! :)

How about your adaptation to the Lares-Waowdeals Women Cycling team? How did your mate receive you?
'They received me with open arms'. Without any pressure we are going with the whole team for great results and helping eachothter to a higher level. The team is really happy with my transfer to their team. I understand that as World Champion en European Champion. They believes in me, and that is really nice for me and it gives me confidence.

Many may think it's a step back in your career. What goals or expectations do you have for the 2017 road season?
Everybody have his own thoughts about it, but the important thing is that I have trust in it. And I have it. Offcourse it will be total different. First riding in a team with a world top riders, and now I will be one of the top riders in the team. So it will change totally, but that is also a thing what I like. I really want to grow and learn new things and the new role. For sure it will be difficult this year with winning a lot of races as team, but I have chosen for that. I want to learn from my new teammates and hope that they can learn something for me. When we can help eachother to a higher level and it is still in a fun way, than I am happy. Offcourse I am not gonna win '1-2-3', but that is the challenge.

Goals: riding WWT races. Last years they didn't select me that much for the WWT races. Last year for the first time I race Tour of Flanders. I know I can go for good results in the spring classics, but when you never selected for one, than it is not nice for me. Spring classics are races where I can go for a win in the future.

Coming season I can race my own programm and will be selected for the races that I want to do. I hope we can show our strength as a team and grow to highter level. When that is okay, the victories will come :)

Have you visited our country (Spain)? It is a perfect site for the first Training Camps and prepare the cyclocross season, right?
I am now in Lanzarote. In February the team will go to Calpe for a training camp, and I will come also for a few days to be with the team. I only go on the bike when we are going for a coffee, and further I will follow in the car, make some pictures and take rest.

What sides do you know or has visited? What do you like most about Spain?
Just Calpe and Guardamar for trainingcamp.

Thank you very much and very lucky in the World Championship of Bieles
Thank you!
