GARCIA SECURES OVERALL WIN AT INAUGURAL TOUR OF PENINSULAR
SETIAWANGSA, 19 October 2019 – Kinan Cycling Team’s Marcos Garcia Fernandez kept his calm to clinch a well deserved overall win in the yellow jersey competition after a thrilling final day of racing at the inaugural Tour of Peninsular (ToP) today.
GARCIA HAS ONE HAND ON TITLE AFTER POWERING TO QUEEN STAGE WIN AT TOUR OF PENINSULAR
CAMERON HIGHLANDS, 18 October 2019 – Kinan Cycling Team’s Marcos Garcia made it count when it matters most as he stormed to victory in the most important stage of the inaugural Tour of Peninsular (ToP) today. At 89.5km the fourth stage, which flagged off from Sungai Koyan and ended in Tanah Rata, is the shortest in the tour this year but featured a lung bursting hors categorie climb up to Cameron Highlands.
AMIRULL DELIVERS THRILLING WIN FOR TSG IN THIRD STAGE OF TOUR OF PENINSULAR
KARAK, 17 October 2019 – What a day it was for Terengganu Inc (TSG) as they clinched an exciting 1-3 podium finish in the third stage of the inaugural Tour of Peninsular (ToP) through Nur Amirull Fakhruddin Mazuki and Harrif Saleh.
DU PLOOY ROMPS TO THRILLING WIN AS HARRIF AND NUR AIMAN PUSH HARD IN TOUR OF PENINSULAR SECOND STAGE
CHUKAI, 16 October 2019 – ProTouch rider Rohan Du Plooy took top honours but it was also a positive overall day for Malaysian riders in stage two of the inaugural Tour of Peninsular (ToP) today. Stage two, like stage one on Tuesday, was again an open race with no one team dominating the proceedings. The stage covered a total distance of 157.4km starting in Kuala Terengganu and ended in Chukai.
The Tour of Peninsular 2019 (TOP 2019) is a newly registered event under a 2.1 category by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI, sanctioned and fully supported by the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF).
Making its debut in the soil of Peninsular Malaysia on 15 to 19 October 2019, the event also making a bit of history in the UCI’s registration after receiving an upgraded 2.1 category whilst all UCI’S newly registered cycling events must first endure a 2.2 category.
Therefore, TOP 2019 under a UCI 2.1 category event will have the opportunity to invite fifty percent (50%) of its invited teams from the World Tour and Pro Continental categories. This is just as close of having a UCI 2.HC (HORS Classe) category event like Le Tour de Langkawi.
